Meiny Prins

Founder and CEO, Greengrounds

Meiny Prins is the Executive Chairman and co-owner of Priva Group, a pioneering high-tech company specializing in climate control, energy efficiency, and optimal water reuse across horticulture, the built environment, and indoor cultivation. Renowned for her advocacy of sustainability and innovation, Meiny is well known for bridging the gap between companies, governments, and sectors to foster collective efforts towards a sustainable future. Meiny founded the Sustainable Urban Delta (SUD) Foundation to inspire city planners, architects, entrepreneurs, and citizens to integrate local food production into urban development. The foundation’s vision emphasizes the social, ecological, and economic benefits of sustainable urban design. It promotes how local food production strengthens social bonds, creates jobs, and enhances urban green spaces, improving overall quality of life. Innovative concepts include integrating greenhouses into residential areas, like housing for seniors, fostering community engagement in inviting environments. Meiny believes that technological advancements and a shift in urban planning can lead to significant breakthroughs in sustainability. Her work with the SUD Foundation and Priva exemplifies her commitment to creating a better world for future generations through sustainable urban development. With Greengrounds, an association focused on tackling food security challenges by converting underutilized urban spaces or vacant land into agricultural ecosystems, Meiny continues to lead by example. She illustrates that investing in sustainability is not only essential for the environment but also economically viable in the long term. Her efforts demonstrate the potential for cities to become hubs of innovation and sustainability, ultimately shaping a healthier, more equitable world.
