An MBA from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, Prof. Syed Munir Khasru is the Chairman of the Institute for Policy, Advocacy and Governance (IPAG), an international civil society knowledge outfit with presence across five continents which include Middle East (Dubai), South Asia (Dhaka & Delhi), Asia-Pacific (Melbourne), Europe (Vienna), and Africa (Mauritius). IPAG’s areas of work include sustainable development & trade, climate change & energy transition, international relations & strategic affairs, technology & digital transformation. Prof. Khasru is a global thought leader who has been Co-chair of a number of Task Forces for G20 and G7 leadership summits and has authored 15 policy briefs from 2017-2024. For the year 2024, he is the lead author of two policy briefs related to food security and smart food. For the G20 Brazilian presidency, he has written policy brief on “Fighting hunger with smart food: Integrating climate resilience into agriculture & food production”. For the G7 Italian presidency, his policy brief is on “Food systems and food security: Connecting the dots for achieving sufficiency of healthy and sustainable foods.” In the G20 and G7 policy briefs, Prof. Khasru provides insights on transforming global food systems to tackle food security, nutrition, and sustainability challenges as well as advocating smart food strategies for sustainable agricultural practices. A global expert of the World Economic Forum, Prof. Khasru is a member of SDG Global Councils for the UN, World Bank, and OECD and Asian Development Bank's Energy Leaders' Forum. He has edited eight international publications on diverse global issues including SDGs, trade, environment, energy, and technology. His opinions are carried by some of the leading international media outlets which include Project Syndicate, World Economic Forum, Straits Times (Singapore), South China Morning Post (Hong Kong), Nikkei Asia (Japan) and in India he writes for the Hindu, Indian Express, Hindustan Times, and Times of India.
